100 years ago, at roughly the turn of the last century, there was a dish or utensil for every food. Every different food served often had a specific serving dish. Tables were often set elaborately, accommodating for every conceivable food and dish at every meal. Today, we most often use whatever's handy, and our dining tables are simple and uncluttered. In today's post, I've posted two vintage bean pot illustrations. These are stylish containers in which to serve beans or bean dishes. This is a digital collage sheet of four, vintage serving dishes from a 1913 catalog. The two top kitchen digital stamps are of casserole dishes. The bottom left is a pie serving dish. And, the bottom right is an egg dish, which I presume it's for deviled eggs. These four serving dishes are stylish and very ornate, and they'd look wonderful transferred on tea towels or party invitations.
